03 | HOW YOU GONNA KEEP 'EM
Notes:
I wrote this song nearly two years ago, when it seemed to me it was only a matter of time before people were going to rise up and fight against the controlling powers of this world. I wouldn't consider myself a prophet, but today, this song feels more timely and relevant than ever. No matter what you think about the protests that have been happening here and around the world, it is inspiring to see people use their voices to seek justice.
—Micah McLaughlin, The Muteflutes
How you gonna keep 'em in the church when they see God?
You can tell them all the lines
Tell them all their crimes
Remind them of their deeds
Show them that they're blind
How you gonna keep 'em in the church when they see God?
How you gonna keep 'em off the streets when they see greed?
How you gonna keep 'em off the streets when they see greed?
When we find the coorperations are running the nation
We cast a vote out of final desperation
How you gonna keep 'em off the streets when they see greed?
How you gonna talk about peace when you make wars?
How you gonna talk about peace when you make wars?
It’s easy to see in this tragedy
That our country’s not spreading a democracy
How you gonna talk about peace when you make wars?
How you gonna keep 'em in the church when they feel God?
How you gonna keep 'em in the church when they feel God?
When they start to realize their beautiful design
Carrying the light and love of the divine
How you gonna keep 'em in the church when they see God?
How you gonna keep 'em off the streets when they see greed?
How you gonna talk about peace when you make wars?
How you gonna keep 'em in the church when they feel God?
When they start to realize their beautiful design
Carrying the light and love of the divine
How you gonna keep 'em in the church when they see God?
